Position Type: Full-Time/Regular
Grade: 49 – Salary Range: $71,700.00 – $86,000.00
Full Description: The University seeks a Security Analyst II responsible for responding to cyber security events at the university. The analyst will analyze data from a variety of sources—including Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) systems, Endpoint Protection Platforms, firewalls, vulnerability scanners, and intrusion prevention and detection systems—to detect and respond to potential security incidents or vulnerabilities. As part of the Cyber Security Operations Center (SOC), the analyst reports to the Assistant Director of Security Operations and works with the Information Security team at the Charles River Campus. Successful completion of the first 90 days of service makes the analyst eligible to participate in the hybrid work program.
Responsibilities
Monitor, analyze, and process security events to identify and protect university assets.
Help process results from vulnerability scans to help mitigate risk.
Assist with maintaining security procedures to ensure they remain current.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify and mitigate security risks.
Participate in an on‑call duty cycle, monitoring tools and providing 24x7 availability to respond to security events when needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Demonstrated interest and at least 2 years of experience in the cyber security field.
Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM systems, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection software, and firewalls.
Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security technologies.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, PCI‑DSS, DMCA, and NIST.
Experience using ServiceNow.
Certifications: ITIL; one or more relevant GIAC, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent certifications.
