Cape Fear Energy Systems is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and develop our residential sales team. This role is ideal for a motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys coaching and developing people, and is passionate about driving growth in the clean energy industry. The Sales Manager will oversee both our Project Consultant and Residential Project Developer teams, helping drive revenue growth, improve team performance, and create an exceptional customer experience from lead generation through signed contract.
This position works closely with company leadership and marketing to align sales strategy, lead flow, customer experience, and business growth initiatives.
Pay: $100k-$200K
Compensation is a combination of a base + incentives for meeting targets
Full-time, in-office role.
Requirements:
3+ years of proven sales leadership or sales management experience
Demonstrated ability to coach and develop sales teams through a structured sales process
Experience managing both inbound lead qualification and outside sales functions
Proven track record of field-based coaching, including ride-alongs and real-time performance feedback
Strong CRM proficiency and a data-driven approach to sales management
Ability to monitor team performance metrics and hold team members accountable to goals and expectations
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and support company growth initiatives
Professional attitude with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to pass a background screening
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in residential in-home sales, home services, solar, renewable energy, or related industries
Experience with Zoho CRM
Familiarity with referral generation strategies and customer relationship development
Experience managing appointment-setting teams and outside sales representatives
Experience working closely with marketing teams to improve lead quality and customer acquisition efforts
Familiarity with the Sandler Selling System or other structured sales methodologies
Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, and develop the Project Consultant and Residential Project Developer teams
Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture
Conduct regular ride-alongs, coaching sessions, and performance reviews
Monitor team performance, close rates, appointment quality, and sales pipeline activity
Hold team members accountable to sales goals, activity expectations, and customer experience standards
Review call recordings and sales processes to identify coaching and improvement opportunities
Maintain accurate sales forecasting, reporting, and CRM data
Collaborate with marketing leadership to improve lead quality, lead flow, and customer acquisition strategies
Support referral generation initiatives and help grow referral-based business opportunities
Provide leadership and support throughout the residential sales process from lead qualification through signed contract
Work cross-functionally with installation, operations, and service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience
Identify opportunities for process improvement, training, and sales growth across the department
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in both office and field environments
Ability to travel locally for ride-alongs, meetings, and team support
May require standing, walking job sites, and driving throughout the service area
