EC Teacher Assistant @ WA Bess Elementary

The employee provides support to students who have health, behavioral, or instructional needs to meet Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and have success in the general curriculum. Job specific duties depend on how the Principal advertises the vacancy. The Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant position may require duties in areas such as behavior support, client-specific care, pre-kindergarten classes, visually impaired classes, and (sub) bus driver roles. Each area includes essential functions such as participating in staff development, preparing materials, operating office equipment, supporting teachers, communicating effectively, assisting in student care, monitoring student behavior, reporting data, and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include understanding child development, organizing assignments, using sound judgment, maintaining confidentiality, general knowledge of classroom activities, monitoring student safety, motivating students, maintaining a clean environment, performing clerical duties, establishing effective working relationships, using equipment, and following instructions.

Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma, minimum of 48 semester hours or an associate's degree, and willingness to obtain a CDL if required.
