WellSpan Medical Group (WMG) is seeking an Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to join our growing practice in Hanover, PA. Individual must be a graduate of an accredited school of medicine with Doctor of Medicine degree plus completion of a medical residency training program in Orthopedic Surgery and fellowship training in Hand/Upper Extremity. He or she must also be Board Certified or Board Eligible.

Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
  • Provides surgical and non-surgical orthopedic care to patients. Provides appropriate follow up care.
  • Consults with resident staff and/or Hospital staff physicians as needed.
  • Participates in on-call schedule for orthopedic services in the practice and/or hospital setting
  • Assists with developing and maintaining departmental quality assessment and continuing education programs.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties such as recommending policy and program changes, coordinating patient care and educational activities, and assisting with the development of innovative projects.
  • Documents patient encounters promptly in the office and hospital setting according to standards determined by WellSpan Medical Group
Common Expectations:
  • Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.
  • Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Assists with the medical education program at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Upon Hire Required and
  • Completion of an appropriate residency program. Upon Hire Required and
  • Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of one or more WellSpan hospitals. Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Clinical skills and knowledge of emergency medicine techniques and occupational medicine.
