Position Summary This position solicits group business to enable the hotel to meet and exceed revenue goals in room and food and beverage. It is designed for a seasoned sales professional who desires to be a leader in revenue production.
Essential Functions
Creates individual account development plans, detailing objectives, timescales and sales methods to support the defined account strategies.
Exhibits excellent consultative skills with a high degree of diplomacy; strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong motivator with proven people‑management skills and excellent interpersonal skills; able to execute strategic direction and influence others to support that strategy.
Demonstrates ability to overcome challenges and objections to close the business.
Develops presentations with targeted messages and is comfortable making presentations to key decision makers.
Account management, adhering to best practices to ensure customer account objectives are defined and appropriate sales activities are completed.
Accurately identifies the level of influence and decision‑making power of contacts in the customer organization and uses these to secure business.
Negotiates contracts to meet client expectations while protecting the property.
Develops customer accounts to increase market and customer share for all revenue streams locally, nationally and globally.
Monitors and maintains competitor set activity including financial performance, SWOT analysis, key accounts and market share.
Establishes, enhances and maintains productive, quality working relationships with clients.
Contributes ideas to improve the products and services offered.
Manages all aspects of the room block planning process after contracts are signed.
Creates an atmosphere that motivates and encourages people to perform at the best of their ability, minimizing conflict where it occurs.
Participates in daily business review meetings, pre‑event meetings, training courses and other hotel‑related meetings.
Works with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers.
Attends community/social events and industry meetings.
Performs all other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
Requirements
A minimum of high school graduate; college preferred.
A minimum of 2 years experience in a sales role.
CI/TY and Marriott experience preferred.
Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations and excellent writing and proof‑reading skills.
Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, to be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems, exercise good judgment, focus on detail, follow through and work without supervision.
Must be proficient in computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Present a professional appearance and confidence.
Ability to ensure security and confidentiality of client information and hotel data.
Achieve and exceed budgeted room nights and revenue goals annually.
Analyze and estimate total value of each piece of business and negotiate the best situation for achieving optimum revenue for the hotel while ensuring excellent customer service.
Utilize the marketing plan to uncover new and potential business.
Assist Sales/Catering/Convention services in obtaining necessary customer information and closing business, as requested.
Compensation Base Salary: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
