Senior Network Engineer Skills and Experience Required
Layer 2 and 3 network design and protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS)
Extensive experience with Cisco and Meraki networking hardware (switches, access points, firewalls, gateways, IOS XE)
Experience with change control and incident management processes
Experience with NGFW design, management, configuration, segmentation and hardening (Fortinet, Palo Alto)
Experience with SDWAN technologies (Fortinet)
Network infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP)
User and site-to-site VPN (IPsec, SSL)
Networking of Azure Cloud and AWS Cloud environments
Automation scripting experience (Terraform, Chef, Python)
Wireless networking design and protocols
Experience with NAC technologies (ClearPass, Cisco ISE)
Ability to work rotational shifts and occasional change windows during evenings and weekends
Day to Day Responsibilities
Hardware preventive maintenance (fixes)
Ensure all trouble tickets are detailed and completed accurately
Investigate and present creative and cost‑effective solutions for networking to retail stores, corporate systems, and other global locations
Provide support for corporate and store networking projects
Consult with retail operation users concerning networking designs, connectivity, and support issues
Assist in or resolve escalated technical incidents
Establish and maintain effective communications and relationships with other IT teams and business units
Stay informed of current technologies to support the business
Develop, improve, and enforce disciplines, policies, procedures, and practices aimed at ensuring system availability, efficient and responsive service delivery, cost effectiveness, technology value, and overall client satisfaction
Technology Responsibilities
Next‑Generation Firewall (NGFW) management – configure, monitor, and maintain NGFW systems (Fortinet, Palo Alto) to enhance network security
SDWAN – implement and optimize SDWAN technologies to improve performance and reduce operational costs
Network infrastructure services – deploy and manage DNS and DHCP for seamless connectivity
VPN – configure and manage user and site‑to‑site VPNs using IPsec and SSL
Cloud networking – integrate and manage networking in a multi‑cloud environment
Automation scripting – develop scripts using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, and Python
Wireless networking – design and implement wireless solutions
Change control and incident management – lead change control processes and manage/resolve incidents promptly
Project support – provide technical support for corporate and store networking projects
Communication and collaboration – establish and maintain strong communications with IT teams and business units
Continuous learning – stay informed on current technologies and industry trends
Process improvement – develop, improve, and enforce policies to ensure system availability, responsive service delivery, cost effectiveness, technology value, and overall client satisfaction
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience acceptable
Experience in network engineering roles focusing on layer 2 and 3 network design and protocols
Strong knowledge of NGFW management and configuration and SDWAN technologies
Proficiency in network infrastructure services, user and site‑to‑site VPNs, and cloud networking
Experience with automation scripting using Terraform, Chef, and Python
Familiarity with wireless networking design and protocols
Demonstrated ability to work rotational shifts and occasionally change windows during evenings and weekends
Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
Effective communication and collaboration abilities
Relevant certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) advantageous
Compensation and Benefits The base salary range for this position is $130,000–$180,000 per year, which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Salaries will vary based on location, experience, and performance and may be outside the upper end of the range. The salary range is one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees, which may also include performance bonuses, long‑term incentives, a PTO policy, and other progressive benefits.
