The Sales Manager leads by example, fostering teamwork, professionalism, and accountability while ensuring adherence to Elevated Roots SOPs and Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) regulations.
This is a full-time, on-site position requiring reliable, punctual, and consistent presence to maintain operational compliance and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Core Responsibilities Leadership & Coaching
Provide daily supervision, coaching, and direction to Sales Leads and Sales Associates.
Conduct daily team meetings with structured agendas to communicate promotions, goals, and compliance reminders.
Train and develop staff to deliver consistent service excellence and accurate product knowledge.
Observe guest interactions and provide real-time feedback, recognition, and coaching.
Document employee performance notes and recognition in the Employee Performance Calendar.
Support the hiring, onboarding, and mentorship of new sales team members.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture through consistent communication and leadership.
Conduct verbal and written coaching conversations as needed, notifying the Store Manager and obtaining HR approval prior to formal corrective action.
Guest Experience & Sales Execution
Uphold and model the Elevated Experience for every guest entering the store.
Verify all customer identification in accordance with 935 CMR 500.105(1)(b) and Elevated Roots SOPs.
Educate guests on cannabis laws, product attributes, and safe consumption practices.
Provide informed product recommendations tailored to customer preferences.
Monitor and support sales activity on the floor, ensuring all transactions are compliant and efficient.
Resolve customer concerns and process returns professionally and in accordance with policy. Ensure consistent execution of promotional strategies and vendor activations.
Intervene and correct non-compliant or unsafe behavior immediately and document as needed.
Operational & Administrative Oversight
Open and close the store, including alarm handling, register verification, cash reconciliation, and completion of daily checklists.
Oversee drawer transactions, cash accuracy, and nightly deposit preparation.
Investigate and document cash or product discrepancies using security footage and transaction logs, escalating to Store Manager or Director of Operations as required.
Coordinate change replenishment and ensure proper drawer limits are maintained. Partner with Operations on product labeling, kiosk fulfillment, and table setup to ensure timely availability for sale.
Verify accuracy of METRC item splits, labels, and POS activation for display tables (no direct METRC adjustments or manifest creation).
Maintain communication with Operations and Store leadership to ensure accurate product flow between vault and sales floor.
Strategic & Weekly Responsibilities
Review and update the Daily Team Meeting sheet and ensure consistency of communication across all shifts.
Collaborate with the Store Manager and leadership team on employee documentation and recognition programs.
Design, launch, and monitor team sales contests and incentive programs.
Track and reorder non-cannabis inventory including swag, accessories, and retail supplies.
Coordinate and oversee weekly Plymouth Armor Group cash pickups.
Meet with vendors to coordinate vendor days and ensure signage, labeling, and presentation are accurate.
Support weekly inventory counts and verify completion of delivery documentation.
Monthly & Continuous Improvement Duties
Partner with the Store Manager and General Manager to review and update SOPs and store policies.
Organize and archive monthly operational paperwork, vendor folders, and financial records.
Participate in leadership meetings to share insights and identify opportunities for operational or service improvements.
Assist with cross-department initiatives to enhance efficiency, compliance, and employee engagement.
Compliance & Audit Support
Ensure all retail operations comply with Massachusetts CCC 935 CMR 500.105 and Elevated Roots SOPs.
Maintain awareness of all regulatory updates and communicate changes to the team.
Serve as the front-of-house point of contact during CCC inspections, providing requested documentation and facilitating walkthroughs.
Ensure all employees complete Responsible Vendor and Marijuana Establishment Agent training requirements prior to performing regulated duties.
Immediately report any suspected violations, security concerns, or compliance risks to leadership.
Attendance & Reliability
Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance as an essential function of this role.
Adhere to assigned schedules and provide advance notice of absences or delays per company attendance policies.
Demonstrate accountability by ensuring coverage of sales and leadership duties during scheduled shifts.
Recognize that excessive unscheduled absences or tardiness may impact compliance, guest experience, and continued employment eligibility.
