Role Overview Embedded Qt Studio Software Architect for our Novum Infusion Pump Platform. Design and develop high‑quality, secure, and reliable software that meets strict medical device standards. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and drive innovation within cross‑functional teams. Responsibilities Lead the design and development of user‑interface software architectures for medical devices using Qt Studio. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define software requirements and draft comprehensive test cases. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering learning and innovation. Maintain awareness of the latest developments in Qt Studio and embedded systems technologies to guide innovation. Develop and maintain detailed software architecture documentation and diagrams for clarity and accessibility. Ensure software architectures meet stringent performance, reliability, and security requirements. Utilize advanced features of Qt Studio, including Qt Widgets, to architect scalable and efficient software solutions. Implement software architectures using MVC and/or MVVM patterns to enhance modularity and maintainability. Leverage the Qt Squish test framework to create and execute automated tests for Qt Studio applications. Partner with systems and quality assurance engineers to ensure compliance with IEC62304 guidance for FDA regulations. Develop and maintain embedded software platforms using C/C++ and integrate seamlessly with hardware components. Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure reliable software‑hardware interfaces, adapting architecture as needed. Lead design and code reviews to uphold high standards of software quality and performance. Educate junior engineers on the benefits and trade‑offs of C++ design patterns and secure coding practices. Utilize version control systems such as Git to manage code effectively and support collaborative development. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on embedded systems and Qt Studio or similar UI SDKs. Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins, and experience integrating version control and troubleshooting pipelines. 5+ years of experience in a regulated industry focusing on software development and validation. Strong knowledge of IEC62304, IEC60601, ISO14971, FDA21CFRPart820, and EU MDR regulations. Experience enforcing rigorous software development and verification documentation practices: development plans, design documents, test plans, and validation reports. Agile development methodology experience, promoting flexibility and responsiveness in project management. Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information to non‑technical stakeholders. Servant‑leader mindset, fostering collaboration and mentorship across teams. Strong version‑control experience, predominantly using Git. Compensation and Benefits Estimated base salary: $168,000 to $231,000 annually. Compensation may vary based on location, skills, and experience. The position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
