The Vice President of Administration serves as the principal advisor to the President on all matters pertaining to management and operations of general administrative services functions. This role is responsible for the oversight of all assigned divisions; providing supervision and direction to the position's direct reports; and coordinating the College Safety Program.
Responsible for the oversight of all assigned divisions by:
- Ensuring compliance with the College's mission by establishing goals and objectives, reviewing and approving departmental plans, and evaluating progress towards goal accomplishment
- Developing, implementing, and enforcing corporate administrative policies and procedures
- Overseeing the management of departmental budgets and vendor contract negotiations
- Coordinating with HR and legal team on compliance, recordkeeping, and regulatory requirement
- Establishing business continuity and risk management protocols for administrative operations
- Evaluating internal workflows to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Collaborating with finance and executive leadership on resource planning
- Maintaining organizational; alignment with federal, state, and local operational laws
- Driving internal communications strategy to promote clarity and accountability
Provides supervision and direction to the position's direct reports by:
- Meeting regularly with direct reports and their teams to provide guidance, coaching and remain informed
- Conducting ongoing performance assessments to improve the overall efficiency of the team and individual performance
- Role-modeling for team members the essential behavior and qualities for success
Coordinates the College Safety Program by:
- Serving as the College's Safety Committee Chair
- Inspecting, reporting, and correction of unsafe conditions
- Management of hazardous materials and the appropriate disposal of hazard waste
- Oversight of the College's disaster preparedness plan
Minimum requirements:
- Master's Degree required; a Masters in Business Administration or a graduate degree in a related field is preferred
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible administration or financial services experience in most or all of the following areas is required.
- Experience with contract management and vendor negotiations, compliance and risk mitigation strategies
- Experience in and/or knowledge of architectural and engineering planning, design and construction, physical plant management, human resources, and food service/event planning, information systems and campus safety is preferred
- A record of successful leadership while directing the efforts of professional staff, preferably in higher education, is required

- A demonstrated ability to lead and the skill set to develop leaders
- Strong conflict resolution skills with a team mentorship strategy
- Ability to project a strong positive image of the College with parents, students, faculty, staff and others, including community and government leaders and the media
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with the college community and to negotiate with a wide range of constituents
- Hands-on experience in developing and executing strategic institutional planning
- Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks, with constant interruptions, with a positive attitude, and following through on all tasks to completion
- Ability to anticipate and apply ingenuity and creativity to a variety of situations
- Ability to make decisions under conditions of uncertainty
- Ability to be a strong advocate for the College's efforts in the areas of sustainability, equity and inclusion
- Ability to scan the environment for critical relevant information
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including writing, speaking and listening
- An appreciation for, and commitment to, the College's work in the area of sustainability, including achievement of the goals of the Climate Action Plan
- Comfortable in the dynamic and evolving environment of contemporary higher education
- The personal qualities of trustworthiness, openness, kindness, flexibility, and a sense of humor
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
- Tolerates work related stress effectively and maintains self-control/professionalism
