Position Overview
Under general supervision of the Director of Labor Relations, the Labor Relations Associate will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Labor Relations team. The role is essential in ensuring smooth operations within the department, facilitating effective communication, and maintaining accurate records. Scope of Role & Responsibilities Assist in the preparation, distribution, and filing of labor and employee relations documentation and correspondence. Schedule and coordinate meetings, hearings, and other events related to labor and employee relations activities. Maintain and update labor and employee relations databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information. Maintains and supports regular communications with Unions and Union Representatives, Central Office of Labor Relations, Office of Collective Bargaining and other City, State or Federal agencies relating to various labor relations matters. Maintains and supports regular communications and correspondence with MPH employees, MPH leadership, and MPH affiliates about labor relations matters as needed. Handle incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and mail, and directing inquiries to appropriate internal and external parties. Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials as needed to support labor relations initiatives. Assist in the research, organization, and compilation of data for grievances, disciplinary matters, and all other labor relations matters. Provide administrative support during hearings and labor management meetings, including note-taking, document preparation and logistical arrangements, as needed. Monitor and track deadlines related to labor relations matters and activities. Support special projects and initiatives assigned by the Director of Labor Relations, Deputy Chief People Officer, or the Chief People Officer. Required Education, Training & Professional Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required; or an Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related discipline from an accredited institution and two (2) years of experience in the field of Human Resources, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related discipline in a unionized workplace is required; or 60 completed credits towards a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in the above-noted disciplines or a related discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field of Human Resources, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related discipline in a unionized workplace is required. At least 2 years of administrative experience, including electronic and physical records/document management and organization, managing electronic mail and physical mail correspondence, calendar management, and scheduling.
