Software Engineering Manager – Advanced Products & Solutions We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager with defense experience to lead the engineering development of software solutions for the APS team at Raytheon in Fort Wayne, IN. Responsibilities Lead, organize, and develop a diverse team of software engineers in the APS group. Conduct performance reviews, salary planning, and overall personnel development. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment to drive advanced product development. Drive the development of innovative software solutions, leveraging emerging technologies to meet mission‑critical needs. Guide the team in adopting modern software development practices, including Agile and DevOps methodologies. Ensure compliance with Raytheon’s process and quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle. Deliver projects aligned to cost, schedule, and quality requirements while adhering to organizational methodologies. Develop training programs and skill‑building initiatives for the team. Stay informed of emerging technologies in the APS domain and implement strategies to maintain the team’s technical edge. Qualifications Minimum of 8 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in STEM or 5 years relevant experience with an advanced degree. Proven experience managing multiple software programs and/or development tasks while meeting cost and schedule objectives. Demonstrated experience across all phases of software product development, including high‑level understanding of software systems, architectures, and development. Strong background in Agile development concepts and DevOps practices for automated build, test, and release pipelines. Hands‑on experience with modern software development tools and configuration management systems such as GIT or Subversion. Familiarity with advanced software architectures, including cloud‑based solutions, real‑time systems, and embedded software. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a technical team, make sound decisions, and forecast project work and costs accurately. Knowledge of advanced product areas such as open architectures, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, or mission‑critical systems is highly desirable. Security Clearance U.S. citizenship is required. A U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required and must be maintained after day1.
