The ED Ward Clerk works under the guidance/supervision of the staff nurses and nurse managers. Their primary role is to assist the nurses in preparing needed records for the care and treatment of patients. They are also responsible for telephone communications, communications between the patients and physicians and/ or nurses and between the different nursing units and other departments within the hospital. The ward clerks are also responsible to assist the nursing personnel as needed. What You'll Do:
Takes patients directly back to beds upon arrival in the ED. Obtains accurate, complete and correctly spelled records with information received from the patient and/or patient's representative. Enters and updates all essential information into computer for patient registration. Obtains travel insurance information and has patient complete required forms. Directs clinical questions to the appropriate clinical staff. Assists Labor and Delivery with urgent transfers by calling receiving facilities, preparing paperwork, arranging transport and preparing transfer packets. Answers multi-line phones; takes clear, detailed, and legible messages and transfers calls to the appropriate staff member and department. Contacts consultants at Physicians requests. Who You Are:

High school diploma required. Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred. Job Information:
Full-time, 12-hour varied shifts, including nights and weekends. Starting wage $23.22 to $28.14 based on qualifications.
