Über
Counsels patients with indications of genetic risks in pregnancy or in preconception settings. Conducts preliminary research such as; family and patient medical histories, coordination of genetic testing, and review of patient referrals. Provides short-term psychosocial support and counseling to patients. Releases and discusses results of genetic testing with patients and providers. Drafts and sends letters to patients summarizing the genetic counseling session. Answers patient calls and assesses need for services. Refers clients to appropriate agencies and physicians as needed. Assists physicians in all aspects of clinic activity. Acts as liaison between patients, physicians and other health care providers. Supervision of genetic counseling interns, pediatric genetic residents, medical students, MFM fellows, and REI fellows on their prenatal genetic rotation. Gives presentations and lectures on genetics-related topics. Provides training and education about Genetic services to other teams. Participates in clinical research. Attends various conferences and meetings monthly. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Genetic Counseling. No experience required. Board-eligible or Board Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC). Work Authorization Requirement: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
