Safety And Industrial Hygiene Manager This position supports the execution of the facility's Safety and Industrial Hygiene program to ensure compliance with all State, Federal, and corporate regulations, policies, and procedures. The role exists to enhance health and safety performance across the FPC TX complex through exposure task evaluations, compliance reviews, development and improvement of safety procedures and training programs, and the training and development of Operations Safety Specialists. Additionally, this position facilitates and provides technical support for investigations involving FPC TX employee recordable injuries and other significant safety events by working with investigation teams and unit management to gather facts, evaluate causes and contributing factors, facilitate Cause Mapping and Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), develop and communicate Safety Alerts, identify and track corrective actions to completion, and support continuous improvement efforts aimed at preventing recurrence. The role is intended to facilitate accurate and comprehensive investigations by exercising independent professional judgement as part of the incident investigation process. Safety - Maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees by ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Assure compliance with all company safety, health, and security programs and practices. Provide management and leadership with timely and thorough reporting of all audit findings to ensure that all audits have appropriate corrective actions. Provide regulatory support to the Maintenance groups so that they can assist Operations in compliance with State and Federal Safety Regulations. Provide regulatory support to the Operating Units, which will enable the Units to achieve smooth operation, manufacture high-quality products, and avoid unscheduled process interruptions. Industrial Hygiene - Assists with detailed, task-level, day-to-day safety and health programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards, and procedures, and ensures applicable compliance tasks are completed in a timely fashion. Assists in the implementation and maintenance of Industrial Hygiene programs, procedures, and compliance training. Plays an active role in the identification of hazards and the implementation of regulatory, health and safety, and other program changes. Incident Report Review / Safety Alerts – Review incident reports submitted by departments to confirm that assigned incident types are accurate and consistent with applicable company procedures and regulatory definitions. Confirm or correct incident classifications, including updates to completed reports when new information changes the classification, such as when a first aid case becomes an OSHA recordable or lost-time injury. When there is a need to promptly share incident facts or preliminary lessons learned with other units, prepare and issue Safety Alerts or similar communications in coordination with site and unit management. Incident Investigation Support – Support investigation teams for FPC TX employee recordable injuries and other significant safety incidents by assisting with fact gathering, interviews, document review, work process evaluation, Cause Mapping, and identification of causes and contributing factors. Work with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and other involved departments to help ensure investigations are accurate, complete, and properly documented. Assist with review of corrective and preventive actions, follow-up tracking, and communication of lessons learned as directed by site and unit management. Safety Compliance Reviews – Complete scheduled compliance reviews as assigned by Safety Management. Review routine and non-routine operations tasks and assist operations with mitigation steps and the development of ETE to prevent employee exposure. Assist in ensuring Contractor compliance with EHS Procedures by performing scheduled and unscheduled field reviews. Training – Provide training to Operations Safety Specialists on procedure revisions, regulatory requirements, and/or changes, review growing trends in safety audit findings, and review solutions to mitigate findings. THM - Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance program. Emphasize the Nothing Touch Ground and No Visual Pollution programs. Maintain the plant in like-new condition. Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent, and must have 10 years of direct job-related experience; or An Associate's degree in safety or a related field with 8 years of direct job-related experience; or a B.S degree in safety or a related field with 6 years of direct job-related experience. (preferred) Previous Related Experience Required: 6–10 years of industrial hygiene and/or safety-related experience within a petrochemical process operation or maintenance environment, with demonstrated responsibility for implementing and enforcing health and safety compliance programs, policies, and procedures, commensurate with the highest level of education achieved. Other Certification/Training Required: Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire. Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan. Must participate in the following subject training and pass required certifications: Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) or equivalent. Cause Map Training. Relevant safety certifications and training are a plus. Valid State-issued Driver's License. Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job: Safety Certification or safety classes are a plus but not required. Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn. Willingness to take over areas of responsibility. Mobile equipment operations. Computer Skills in Microsoft Office and other job-related software applications.
