ABOUT THE TEAM Anduril's Electronic Warfare (EW) division builds next-generation electronic warfare platforms that integrate with the broader Anduril Lattice ecosystem. The Mission Engineering team is responsible for ensuring these systems are operationally ready, successfully deployed, and continuously supported for customers in the field. We own the bridge between engineering development and real-world mission success.
ABOUT THE JOB We are looking for a Lead Mission Software Engineer to build and lead the EW mission engineering function. In this role, you will own the operational readiness and field success of our electronic warfare products. You will lead a team of mission software engineers responsible for production support, system deployment, field issue resolution, and rapid software fixes to meet urgent customer needs. You will act as the technical owner for mission system delivery from installation through sustainment, collaborating closely with embedded software, applications engineering, and test/QA teams to ensure our products perform reliably in operational environments.
Above all, this role demands a “Whatever It Takes” mindset, executing in an expedient, scalable, and pragmatic way while keeping the mission top‑of‑mind and making sound engineering decisions to deliver successful outcomes correctly, on‑time, and with high quality.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead and grow a team of mission engineers supporting EW product deployments and field operations
Own customer success through the delivery, installation, and sustainment of operational EW systems
Triage field issues, drive root cause analysis, and coordinate rapid fixes across software and hardware teams
Provide technical leadership and hands‑on contributions across deployed system troubleshooting, software patching, and system configuration
Establish processes for incident response, post‑incident review, and preventive measures
Collaborate with embedded software engineering and applications engineering to ensure mission‑critical fixes are incorporated into future releases
Partner with end‑users to understand operational needs, translate them into engineering action, and balance urgency with engineering quality
Engage with customers to represent technical aspects of system performance and operational readiness
Coordinate with test/QA and release engineering to qualify builds for field deployment
Travel up to 30 % to support deployments, integration events, demonstrations, and customer engagements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years professional experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or technical operations
2+ years in a technical leadership role (leading teams, setting objectives, driving execution)
Experience with Haskell or Rust, as well as TypeScript codebases
Experience troubleshooting and supporting remotely deployed software/hardware systems
Hands‑on experience with Linux system administration and debugging in production environments
Ability to work across the software stack — from embedded systems through networking and application layers
Experience engaging with customers to represent technical capabilities and coordinate on operational needs
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, program management, and operations teams
Demonstrated ability to operate in unstructured environments and drive issues to resolution
Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance
Willingness to take on‑call responsibilities as needed to support production systems
Willingness to travel up to 30 %
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with electronic warfare systems, software‑defined radio, or RF systems
Experience with containerized deployments (Kubernetes, Docker) in operational environments
Experience with distributed communication networks and system‑of‑systems architectures
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release management processes
Experience with Nix/NixOS
Prior experience in defense technology or military operations
Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, build team cohesion, and increase team capability
