Job Summary STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Network Engineer Level 5 on behalf of our client in Woodlawn, MD. This role is ideal for a highly experienced networking professional with deep expertise in enterprise network architecture, cybersecurity, and Cisco technologies. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, securing, and optimizing complex network infrastructures while supporting mission-critical operations in a large-scale enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network and cybersecurity solutions.
Analyze network infrastructure and recommend enhancements to improve performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
Develop network architecture documentation, implementation plans, and technical specifications.
Evaluate networking technologies, software releases, and system configurations to identify vulnerabilities and performance issues.
Configure, manage, and support technologies including VPNs, Network Admission Control (NAC), Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Nexus, Cisco ASR, and related networking platforms.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for network administration, monitoring, and performance management.
Monitor network performance and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues.
Support large-scale network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Provide Tier III technical support and serve as a subject matter expert for network-related incidents and escalations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and technical leadership to ensure successful project delivery.
Mentor team members and communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 14+ years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years designing and engineering complex network systems; OR
Master's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience; OR
Ph.D. with 9+ years of relevant experience; OR
Equivalent combination of education and extensive professional experience.
Cisco CCIE certification or equivalent expert-level Cisco certification.
Additional CCIE or CCDE certification required.
Extensive experience with:
Enterprise LAN technologies and architectures
Ethernet and wireless networking
Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
802.1X authentication
Enterprise routing and switching technologies
Strong knowledge of network security principles, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
CCIE certification in the Security domain.
Hands‑on experience with Cisco NX‑OS, Cisco ISE, and SD‑WAN technologies.
Experience supporting large‑scale Cisco enterprise environments.
Knowledge of WAN technologies, IP routing protocols, and network optimization.
Understanding of server connectivity, virtualization platforms, and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
Experience with public and private cloud networking services.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
