Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Gastroenterologist Physici an, you will join a growing , physician-led practice at Dignity Health Medical Group - Merced , playing a pivotal role in the continued success, design, and development of our regional Gastroenterology service line.
You will provide expert outpatient and inpatient clinical care to adult patients, diagnosing and treating a wide variety of gastrointestinal conditions including those affecting the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, and colon. You will also contribute significantly to shaping a robust care network in a highly collaborative environment.
To be successful in this role, you will be a BC/BE Gastroenterology physician with a passion for delivering high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse community, strong clinical and endoscopic skills, and a commitment to building a premier service line within a supportive, mission-driven environment. This opportunity is structured to support an excellent work-life balance, offering a predictable Monday through Friday schedule with shared telephone-only call responsibilities and absolutely no hospital inpatient call constraints.
  • Deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultative services, endoscopies, and routine GI screenings.
  • Lead the clinical design, growth, and development of the local Gastroenterology service line to expand regional access.
  • Partner and collaborate cross-functionally with a dedicated network of local primary care and specialty providers to optimize patient referral pathways.
  • Access advanced diagnostic services and hospital resources while utilizing modern facilities at Mercy Medical Center Merced.
We are offering the following incentives to eligible new hires:
  • 2 year guaranteed annual base salary of $600,000 - $650,000/year
  • Signing bonus and relocation assistance

  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibility, an employer-sponsored pension plan, and annual CME allowance
Job Requirements
Required
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board eligible or board certified in Gastroenterology (ABMS or AOA)
  • Active or eligible medical license in the state of California
  • Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Completion of an accredited post-graduate Fellowship training program in Gastroenterology
  • Strong clinical and endoscopic skills, with comprehensive knowledge of gastroenterology care principles

$600,000 - $650,000 /year
