Patient Care Associate (PCA) - Step Down

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patients highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is now hiring full-time (and part-time) for day shifts and nights available. Rotating holidays & weekends. Nursing students & pre-med students are strongly encouraged to apply! Please list your nursing or healthcare program on your resume and application.

Job Overview

Under the direction of an RN or LPN, the PCA assists with individualized patient care to help patients achieve their highest level of wellness. This role is an essential member of the care team, performing both clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Training Program

No experience? No problem! Mercy provides a 175-hour, Department of Health and Senior Servicesapproved training program, completed during new hire orientation (must be finished within 90 days). Our PCA training is also an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program, offering valuable hands-on experience and credentials.

Requirements:

BLS certification within 1 month of hire

PCA competencies completed within 3 months

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or G.E.D

CNA/CPTC or

Enrolled in a healthcare career program (including high school programs)

Mercy co-workers encouraged to apply

Experience: None required

Preferred Certification:

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly

Prolonged standing and walking

Ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, grip, and squat
