Reporting to the Chief Engineer & Critical Infrastructure Officer, Bus ireann is seeking a Senior Manager, Garage Critical Infrastructure to ensure that our national garage infrastructure is safe, compliant, reliable, fully operational and prepared to support both current operations and the transition to a zero-emission fleet.
The immediate focus of this role is the transition and management of critical garage infrastructure into business-as-usual operation, particularly around EV charging systems, utilities, energy infrastructure and site readiness.
The successful candidate will ensure that completed projects are effectively handed over, clearly owned, supported by robust maintenance arrangements and capable of enabling reliable day-to-day operations.
Over time, this role will also influence future garage design and strategic footprint planning, ensuring Bus ireanns national depot network supports future fleet growth, EV transition, future fuels, resilience and long-term operational efficiency.
This is a senior technical leadership position suitable for an experienced engineering, infrastructure, utilities, facilities or asset management professional with strong practical judgement and operational credibility.
This position is based in our Broadstone Depot Dublin 7.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: BAU Ownership and Operational Readiness.
Lead the transition of garage infrastructure projects into full business-as-usual operation, ensuring infrastructure is fully commissioned, documented, risk-assessed and operationally ready before handover.
Developandimplementastandardisedend-to-endinfrastructurehandoverandBAUtransition processes across all sites.
Establish clear post-handover ownership arrangements, including maintenance, warranties, supplier support, training, SLAs and escalation pathways.
WorkcollaborativelywithEngineering,Operations,Sustainability,Property,Safety,contractors and suppliers to ensure infrastructure is practical, reliable and fully usable by garage teams.
Capture lessons learned and embed continuous improvement into future handover, maintenance and operational readiness practices.
EV Charging, Energy, Utilities & Infrastructure Performance Take accountability for the operational performance of EV charging infrastructure and associated utilities across the garage network, ensuring reliability, uptime and rapid issue resolution.
Deliver and manage a national performance framework to include charging availability and uptime,faultresponseandmean-time-to-repair,triageissuesandinfrastructure-relatedservice disruption.
Lead supplier and utility performance through robust commercial and contractual frameworks, including SLA management and escalation.
Implement monitoring and fault management capability.
Maintainoversightofenergy,fuellingandutilityinfrastructure,includingelectricity,water, drainage, diesel, HVO, solar, battery storage, grid capacity and future-fuel technologies.
Deliversiteandnetwork-levelutility,energyandfuellingresilienceplanstosupportservice continuity and operational reliability.
Ensure appropriate safety, isolation, emergency response and contingency measures are in place for high-energy and critical infrastructure systems.
Garage Standards, Compliance & Asset Assurance Establish and maintain national garage infrastructure standards covering technical, operational and safety requirements.
Ensuregarageinfrastructureremainssafe,compliant,fitforpurposeandalignedtooperational needs and statutory obligations.
Develop and maintain infrastructure asset register, compliance evidence, inspection logs and infrastructure risk registers to provide visibility of asset condition, lifecycle requirements and inspection status.
Implement an asset, compliance and inspection assurance framework to ensure statutory, environmental, energy, quality and ISO-related requirements are consistently achieved.
Identify, monitor and mitigate infrastructure risks including EV charging failures, utility disruption, equipment breakdown, fire, flooding and fuel resilience risks, ensuring audits and remedial actions are completed and evidenced.
Future Garage Design, Footprint & Strategic Infrastructure Planning Provide technical leadership and operational insight into future garage and depot infrastructure requirements aligned to fleet decarbonisation and operational growth.
Support long-term garage footprint planning, assessing infrastructure capability to meet future PSO, Schools and Expressway operational requirements.
Identify infrastructure constraints affecting resilience, efficiency, growth and decarbonisation and evaluate strategic solutions including hub-and-spoke models, regional maintenance centres and satellite facilities.
Contribute to feasibility studies, business cases, investment proposals and future-ready infrastructure standards to ensure garage assets support long-term operational and fleet transition needs.
KEY SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE Essential Relevant engineering, infrastructure, asset management, facilities or utilities qualification (civil, mechanical, electrical, energy, industrial or building services).
