The Resident Care Director is responsible for the strategic oversight, clinical leadership, regulatory compliance, and operational management of the Memory Support neighborhood. This role ensures residents living with cognitive impairment receive exceptional, person-centered care while maintaining compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) regulations and standards.
The Director provides oversight and support to the Resident Care Manager and caregiving teams to ensure residents experience meaningful engagement, dignity, safety, independence, and the highest possible quality of life. This position is responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment that supports both residents and families while promoting excellence in dementia care delivery.
The performance of duties within this position is in accordance with the mission, values, and hospitality philosophy of the organization. This position reports to the Senior Director of Health Services.
Essential job functions include clinical oversight & resident care, AHCA compliance & regulatory leadership, quality assurance & performance improvement, leadership, staffing & team development, resident & family engagement, partnership with Memory Support Engagement Manager, operations & budget management, and additional responsibilities.
Critical skills & expertise include strong clinical assessment and leadership abilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with memory-impaired residents, compassionate, calm, patient, and reassuring approach, strong regulatory, compliance, and risk management knowledge, ability to supervise and develop staff fairly and effectively, ability to remain calm and use sound judgment in stressful situations, strong collaboration skills with residents, families, physicians, staff, and leadership, self-motivated, organized, and solution-oriented.
Physical requirements include ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing and walking throughout the community while conducting rounds and responding to resident needs.
Working conditions include indoor environment including resident apartments and common areas, potential exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids, fast-paced healthcare and residential environment requiring flexibility and responsiveness.
You have: current and valid Florida LPN or RN license required, associate or bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business, or related healthcare field preferred, minimum one to three years of management experience in assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or geriatric healthcare setting, minimum one year experience working with individuals living with dementia-related conditions preferred, knowledge of AHCA regulations and assisted living compliance standards, CPR certification required, successful completion of all required pre-employment screenings including health, TB, and FDLE clearance, genuine passion for serving older adults in a memory care environment.
