The Role Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Branch Manager will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the branch operation.
This is a commercially focused leadership role requiring a balance of sales development, operational excellence, customer relationship management, team leadership, and business growth.
The successful candidate will ensure the branch operates efficiently while maintaining exceptional service standards and strong commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities: Commercial Leadership & Business Development Drive branch sales performance and profitability.
Develop and implement local business growth strategies.
Identify and secure new business opportunities.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Develop relationships with contractors, project managers, procurement teams and key decision-makers.
Conduct customer visits and business development meetings.
Manage key accounts and support contract negotiations.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements.
Deliver sales and margin targets.
Branch Operations Management Oversee all day-to-day branch operations.
Ensure efficient stock control and inventory management.
Manage warehouse and logistics activities.
Maintain excellent customer service standards.
Monitor branch performance against KPIs.
Manage budgets and operational costs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure branch resources are utilised effectively.
Customer Relationship Management Build long-term relationships with customers and key accounts.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Resolve escalated customer issues professionally.
Identify opportunities to increase customer retention and spend.
Promote a customer-first culture throughout the business.
Team Leadership Lead, motivate and develop branch employees.
Foster a high-performance culture.
Conduct performance reviews and development planning.
Recruit and onboard new team members when required.
Support employee training and career progression.
Encourage collaboration and accountability.
Financial Management Take ownership of branch profitability.
Monitor sales, margins and operating expenses.
Manage branch budgets effectively.
Review financial reports and identify opportunities for improvement.
Support credit control and cash flow management.
Deliver sustainable business growth.
Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation.
Promote a safe working environment.
Ensure company procedures and policies are followed.
Conduct regular reviews and audits.
Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards.
Candidate ProfileEssential Experience Minimum 5 years' management experience within one or more of the following sectors: Builders Merchants Plumbing Supplies Mechanical Services Engineering Distribution Industrial Supply Construction Products Tool Hire Building Materials Proven track record of growing sales and profitability.
Strong commercial awareness and business development capability.
Experience managing branch operations and teams.
Excellent customer relationship management skills.
Strong leadership and communication abilities.
Full clean driving licence.
Desirable Experience Knowledge of plumbing, drainage, mechanical services or construction products.
Experience working with contractors and trade customers.
Experience using ERP or stock management systems.
Understanding of project-based sales environments.
Existing network within the Irish construction industry.
