As a Pre-Construction Senior Project Manager, you are the strategic architect behind Crusoe's physical expansion. You will own the high-stakes transition from conceptual vision to shovel-ready reality for our hyperscale data center projects. Your role is mission-critical: you ensure that every project is meticulously planned, accurately budgeted, and rigorously scheduled long before the first stone is turned. By navigating the complexities of site feasibility, vendor negotiations, and design coordination, you set the foundation for the world's most advanced AI-first cloud infrastructure.
This leadership position requires a rare blend of analytical depth and collaborative influence. You will drive the initial phases of our most ambitious builds, serving as a pivotal leader who can anticipate risks, optimize costs, and align diverse stakeholders. We are seeking a veteran of large-scale construction who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of AI. This is a full-time position.
What You'll Be Working On:
- End-to-End Pre-Construction Leadership: Direct the entire pre-construction lifecycle, managing project flow from conceptual design through the commencement of onsite construction.
- Strategic Planning & Budgeting: Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, multi-million dollar budgets, and detailed risk assessments to ensure project viability and success.
- Design & Trade Coordination: Lead collaboration between architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure all designs are optimized for efficiency, cost, and constructability.
- Site Evaluation & Feasibility: Conduct thorough site investigations and feasibility studies to validate infrastructure readiness and environmental compatibility.
- Procurement & Bidding Oversight: Lead the preparation of complex bid packages, manage the competitive bidding process, and perform deep-dive analysis of contractor proposals.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate high-value contracts and manage long-term vendor relationships to ensure Crusoe receives maximum value and quality.
- Regulatory & Permitting Management: Navigate the permitting process end-to-end, securing all necessary approvals and ensuring 100% compliance with building codes and environmental standards.
- Strategic Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify potential project bottlenecks or scope gaps, implementing mitigation strategies to keep project timelines and budgets on track.
- Construction Handoff: Partner closely with the onsite construction team to ensure a seamless transition of knowledge, documentation, and strategy from the planning phase to execution.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- Hyperscale Expertise: Minimum of 7 years of dedicated pre-construction management experience, with a proven track record of success in large-scale, complex projects (ideally within the data center or heavy industrial sector).
- Construction Strategy Mastery: Deep technical understanding of construction processes, materials, methods, and the nuances of the mission-critical build lifecycle.
- Advanced Project Management: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously without losing focus on detail.
- Negotiation & Influence: Strong communication and negotiation skills, capable of building trust and driving results with C-suite executives, local officials, and technical trades.
- Analytical Precision: A highly analytical mindset focused on accuracy in budgeting, forecasting, and feasibility reporting.
- Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of construction management software, scheduling tools (P6/MS Project), and digital collaboration platforms.
- Mandatory Education: A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Bonus Points:
- Industry-Specific Background: 10+ years of experience specifically within the hyperscale data center or high-tech infrastructure market.
- Advanced Certifications: Holding a PMP, LEED AP, or equivalent professional construction certification.
- Digital Integration: Experience utilizing BIM (Building Information Modeling) to drive pre-construction accuracy and clash detection.
- Sustainability Focus: A background in sustainable construction practices or projects involving renewable energy integration.
