Are you a customer service leader who enjoys challenging the status quo and driving positive change? We're looking for a commercially minded Customer Service Manager to take ownership of a key customer-facing function within a successful and growing distribution business.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than simply managing day-to-day operations
- we're seeking a leader who can bring fresh ideas, improve processes, empower a team, and elevate the customer experience.
You'll lead a small team of experienced customer service professionals while working closely with Sales, Finance and Operations to ensure customers receive exceptional service from enquiry through to delivery.
This position would particularly suit candidates coming from distribution, builders merchants, construction products, DIY retail or similar fast-paced customer-focused environments who are looking for a role where they can influence change and make decisions that matter.
The Opportunity This role offers the chance to: Lead and develop a close-knit customer service team Introduce new ideas, improve ways of working and drive efficiencies Influence customer experience strategy and service standards Partner closely with a field sales team to support customer growth Make commercial decisions that directly impact customer satisfaction Play a key role in strengthening customer relationships Key Responsibilities Customer Experience & Service Excellence Champion a customer-first culture across the business Ensure customers receive a responsive, professional and consistent service Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement Resolve escalated customer issues and complaints effectively Leadership & Team Development Lead, motivate and develop a team of customer service professionals Set clear objectives and performance expectations Coach team members to maximise performance and engagement Foster a collaborative and accountable working environment Operational Management Oversee order processing, customer enquiries and issue resolution Ensure customer data, pricing and account information are maintained accurately Manage customer service systems and reporting tools Monitor service levels and operational performance Business Improvement Analyse service performance and customer feedback Identify recurring issues and implement sustainable solutions Drive efficiencies, improve response times and enhance processes Challenge existing practices and introduce better ways of working Commercial & Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Sales, Operations and Finance teams Support key customer accounts and service requirements Make informed decisions regarding customer requests, delivery priorities and service solutions Contribute to business growth through exceptional customer engagement What We're Looking For Proven experience leading a customer service team Strong leadership skills with the confidence to challenge and improve existing processes Commercial awareness and sound decision-making ability Experience working within distribution, construction products, builders merchants, DIY retail, manufacturing or similar environments Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities Experience using CRM and ERP systems A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset Why Join?
