As a permanent member of faculty, the postholder will contribute actively to programme delivery, development, and continuous improvement.
The role extends beyond teaching to include full engagement in academic life at NCI, including student support, curriculum development, quality assurance processes, and participation in School and College activities.
Applicants must be eligible to work in Ireland at the time of application.
Key Responsibilities Teaching
* Lecture to students within the School of Business and Social Sciences in law.
* Lecture on certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
* Provide professional support to students in their learning activities.
* Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects in related subject areas.
* Facilitate practical research design and implementation.
* Commit to ongoing professional development.
* Participate in committees appropriate to courses.
* Engage in research and development work as appropriate.
* Provide such information as may be required by the College in relation to the activities of the role.
* Engage in the assessment processes of the College by setting and marking examinations and assignments and attending assessment boards and liaising with external examiners.
* Set, correct and give feedback on project work, research work and dissertation.
* Undertake the duties of the role in accordance with the requirements of the College Quality Assurance arrangements.
* Facilitate skills development workshops.
* Liaise with library regarding reading materials, booklists, etc.
* Develop new and existing course material, including through the use of learning technologies and appropriate delivery mechanisms.
Programme Development
* Assist in the development of existing programmes and new programmes.
This may involve drafting submission documents, liaison with the validating bodies, promoting, implementing and reviewing programmes.
* Design and deliver curriculum and education interventions.
* Preparation for teaching and all other work-related activity including tutorials associated with lectures.
Research
* Carry out scholarly research relevant to College activities and strategy, including regular publications and presentations.
* Actively seek external funding to support the research interests of the School.
External Bodies
* Seek to promote and engage with relevant professional, academic and industry bodies, particularly in relation to professional membership, industry engagement and programme accreditation, where appropriate.
General
* Assist in the development of the School of Business and Social Sciences
* Act as programme director for undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes in consultation with the Dean of the School of Business and Social Sciences
* Contribute to academic and disciplinary committees and meetings as requested.
* Be available to students outside of class contact hours for guidance and support.
* Represent the college at functions and promotional events such as exhibitions, school visits, open days, recruitment evenings and other external events.
* Act as a personal tutor.
* Work on short courses, training and consultancy.

* a Level 9 qualification in Law or a related field.
* A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in the field.
* Level 10 in a relevant field
* Excellent communication skills.
* Skilled and experienced in giving feedback
* Good time management and organisation skills.
* Evidence of commitment to the subject area.
