*Who we are*
Garage Services Online has been helping independent garages across the UK and Ireland build their online presence since 2010. With over 820 active garage partners and a reputation built on outstanding service, we are a trusted digital partner for small businesses across the country.
We are now looking for a motivated Junior Website Support Executive to join our production team. This is an entry-level role, ideally suited to a recent graduate or A-level leaver with a qualification in Computer Science and a genuine passion for websites, web technology, and the growing world of AI. This is a client-facing role: you will be in regular contact with our Clients who are Garage owners, so confidence and professionalism in communication are just as important as technical ability. You will receive hands-on training and grow alongside a team that takes real pride in its work.
_*Location Harrogate (office-based)*_
_*Contract Full-Time, Permanent*_
_*Salary Competitive, commensurate with experience and qualifications*_
_*Reports To Head of Delivery*_
_*Suitable For Graduate or A-Level Leaver with Computer Science background*_
*The Role*
You will join our production team in a role that is split between two core areas: aftersales client support and website development. While both matter, aftersales is the heartbeat of this position. The majority of your time will be spent working directly with our garage clients — responding to their requests, solving problems, and making sure their websites continue to work hard for their businesses long after launch.
This is a client-facing role first and a development role second. You will need to be as comfortable picking up the phone to a garage owner as you are working inside WordPress. From day one you will be contributing to real work, supported by experienced colleagues, and making a visible difference to small businesses across the UK.
*What You Will Be Doing*
*Aftersales Care and Ongoing Client Support — the core of this role*
Once a site goes live, the relationship with that client is just beginning. Our clients are independent garage owners: their website is their most important sales tool, and downtime, errors, or unanswered queries have a direct impact on their livelihoods. This is where you come in.
* Be the first point of contact for client amendment requests and support queries, responding promptly and professionally.
* Communicate directly with clients by phone and email — keeping them informed, managing expectations, and making them feel valued.
* Translate technical issues into plain, reassuring language that a non-technical business owner can understand and trust.
* Carry out website amendments and maintenance tasks accurately, ensuring every request is completed cleanly and without loose ends.
* Investigate and resolve website issues methodically, escalating where necessary but always keeping the client updated throughout.
* Take ownership of your client interactions: no one should feel like they are waiting or chasing.
* Understand the stakes — a garage that cannot be found online is a garage losing customers — and treat every task with that in mind.
You do not need to be a salesperson, but you do need to be confident, personable, and comfortable on the phone. Clients should always feel that they are in safe hands.
Website Builds and Launches
Alongside aftersales support, you will play an active role in taking new client sites from build through to launch.
* Support the build and launch of new client websites, working within our established process and to our quality standards.
* Build and configure pages in WordPress, managing plugins, settings, and site structure.
* Carry out pre-launch testing and quality assurance to ensure every site goes live correctly and performs well in search.
* Use Cloudflare to manage DNS, security, and performance configurations.
Supporting the Team
* Work closely with experienced team members, learning the GSO way of working and asking the right questions.
* Be a reliable presence that colleagues can count on to pick tasks up and see them through.
* Contribute to ongoing improvements in how we work, including exploring how AI tools can support production workflows.
*What We Are Looking For*
*Essential*
* A qualification in Computer Science (A-Level, degree, or equivalent) or a demonstrable equivalent interest and capability.
* A strong interest in websites, web technology, and the digital landscape, including developments in AI.
* Some familiarity with HTML and CSS, even if self-taught or from a course.
* An eye for detail: you notice when something is not right and you take steps to fix it.
* Confident communicator: comfortable speaking directly with clients by phone and email, able to build rapport and convey professionalism.
* Clear written communication skills, able to explain things simply and without jargon.
* Organised and self-motivated: you manage your workload, prioritise sensibly, and follow tasks through to completion.
* A genuine curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and systems.
*Desirable (not essential — we will train the right person)*
* Hands-on experience with WordPress, even from personal projects or freelance work.
* Familiarity with DNS management tools such as Cloudflare.
* Understanding of SEO basics and how they apply to website builds.
* Awareness of website performance principles and how to improve load times.
* An interest in or early experience with AI tools applied to web development or digital workflows.
* Experience with version control (e.g. Git) or any scripting language (Python, JavaScript, PHP).
*Who You Are*
Beyond the technical skills, we are looking for someone with the right attitude. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you do need to be:
* Confident speaking with clients: you are personable, professional, and comfortable picking up the phone.
* Genuinely curious about the web and excited to keep learning.
* Proud of producing work that is accurate and well-finished.
* Comfortable asking questions and receptive to feedback.
* Reliable: someone who does what they say they will do.
* Interested in the real-world impact of the work, understanding that behind every website is a business owner depending on it.
*Why Join Garage Services Online*
This is a genuine entry point into a growing digital agency, with real work, real clients, and a team that is invested in making you succeed.
* Structured training: you will be supported by experienced colleagues who know the product inside out.
* Real variety: over 820 garage clients, each with different needs, means you will never be doing the same thing on repeat.
* Visible impact: the work you do directly affects whether a business owner gets enquiries this week.
* Room to grow: as GSO expands, the production team grows with it, and the opportunities to develop expand too.
* A positive culture: we are a collaborative, supportive team that holds high standards and looks after each other.
* Future-facing: we are actively exploring how AI and emerging web technologies can enhance what we do, and we want someone who shares that enthusiasm.
