Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Work Experience:
Five (5) years general security, healthcare security, or other public safety law enforcement leadership experience. Previous healthcare security supervisor or leadership experience preferred.
Provide strategic vision and leadership to enhance and transform security team performance using data-driven approaches.
Lead organizational initiatives that strengthen overall security and align with healthcare-specific needs.
Develop, review, and update security policies, procedures, and system documentation.
Oversee the administration of electronic records management systems and guide access control integration and badging protocol enhancements.
Plan and develop new security strategies to meet the evolving needs of Essentia Health communities.
Utilize operational expertise to develop, deploy, and integrate security systems, technologies, and protocols.
Ensure regulatory requirements, documentation, and departmental reporting are completed accurately and submitted to the appropriate internal departments.
Assist in the development and management of the security department budget.
Maintain training and readiness of self and security officers in alignment with industry standards.
Provide key support to the Essentia Health Workplace Violence Prevention Program.
Serve as a subject matter expert within the Enterprise Security Risk Management (ESRM) framework.
Gather and analyze data, evaluate situations accurately, and determine effective courses of action.
Participate in the selection, onboarding, development, and retention of security staff.
Drive an accepted and sustainable security culture across the organization.
Address employee conduct, performance issues, and developmental needs to support a high-performing team.
Must-Have Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Capable of demonstrating basic literacy and satisfactory interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to learn and operate computerized security systems, CCTV monitoring equipment, and standard two-way radios.
Possess public/human relations skills, able to cope with stress and emergency situations.
Write clear and comprehensive status reports, and correspondence, present ideas and information effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to demonstrate success in managing multiple tasks and projects.
Ability to give clear instructions and lead.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of access control and surveillance systems.
ASIS Associate Protection Professional (APP).
Law Enforcement Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.).
Master degree in related field.
Obtain IAHSS Supervisor certification within six (6) months of hiring required.
