We are currently seeking a purpose‑driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as an Applications Technician I, II or III. This position will be located in Rolla, MO.
Summary The Applications Technician is a highly skilled technician that conducts applications research for all materials. Has a theoretical knowledge of assigned area. Able to train and fix equipment in assigned areas and can operate in other areas. Expected to participate in the creation of publications related to conference and article submissions. Ability to work independently on projects as skills enable and needs require. May lead projects and teams as necessary, and may mentor junior team members, while maintaining a strong approach to problem solving.
Responsibilities
Perform tests as instructed on a specific tool.
Prepare samples for specific tool and/or understand the process flow for that tool.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area utilizing safety standards.
Perform accurate and concise data collection with appropriate documentation.
Serve as active team member as needed for project teams.
Observe materials and process behavior.
Identify and report non‑conformance issues with material and processes.
Comply with cleanroom protocols and clean‑up procedures.
Perform general housekeeping in compliance with work areas.
Communicate with supervisor and team members. Potential of being assigned to cross‑functional teams.
Characterize developmental and commercial materials and processes.
Capable of maintaining a specific metrology tool to include running controls, alignments, or other procedures for maintaining the equipment to perform optimally.
Modify/edit recipes on the specific metrology equipment trained on.
Operate additional metrology tools.
Work with Applications Engineers and Technicians to develop or troubleshoot complex processes or products to meet specific customer needs.
Train other personnel on specific metrology equipment.
Exhibit knowledge and competence utilizing necessary metrology equipment.
Work on specific tools to overcome common failures.
Determine if unexpected or negative results are tool related.
Assist customers with interpretation or test results.
Work on OEM to troubleshoot a specific tool.
Focus on wafer processing of internal / external demos and service work.
Compile data / information to be incorporated into engineering reports.
Over time, develop expertise on metrology and/or advanced wafer‑processing equipment.
Education & Credentials
Associate’s degree or 8 years laboratory testing experience.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
