Job Description The position involves designing, implementing, and supporting the company’s internet protocol network. The role provides expert technical advice for real‑time analysis, design, testing, and operation of router networks. Responsibilities include collaborating with engineering on channel additions and network upgrades for the backbone network.
Core Responsibilities
Coordinating and implementing all requirements for turning up new circuits onto the Comcast network, including configuration development and application.
Managing 1G & 10G Ethernet circuits from order entry through implementation, testing, and activation on SIP, SFI Wholesale Transit, and Voice circuits.
Maintaining network records, performing CFA assignments, and decoding DLR, CILLI, and LOA/CFA information.
Interpreting engineering designs to identify new equipment, affected elements, and connectivity requirements.
Creating Comcast Network Maintenance tickets for service‑affecting and non‑service‑affecting activities and accurately identifying affected circuits.
Configuring infrastructure such as Cisco, Juniper, CIENA, and ALU platforms—including optical, DWDM, and Ethernet.
Using business software (Microsoft Suite, Metasolv, Filemaker) to support agile initiatives and ensuring accurate data entry.
Providing technical expertise on internet protocol router network technologies and troubleshooting.
Building and maintaining relationships with regions, local markets, and vendors.
Executing independent judgment in significant matters and maintaining consistent attendance; willingness to work nights, weekends, and variable schedules.
Performing any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 3 years of related experience.
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCP, or equivalent transport equipment experience.
Knowledge of 1G & 10G Ethernet circuit implementation and network build‑outs.
Strong understanding of router configuration and transport build platforms.
Proficiency in interpreting engineering designs and related documentation.
Communication and soft‑skill proficiency.
