Position Summary
This remote
Solutions Architect position is responsible for providing expert guidance on the design, implementation, optimization, and governance of enterprise data platforms built on Databricks. The role supports the development of scalable, secure, and compliant cloud-based data solutions, including data engineering, analytics, AI/ML, and streaming workloads. The successful candidate will serve as a technical advisor, collaborating with engineering, cybersecurity, and business teams to establish best practices, support platform modernization, and drive adoption of emerging Databricks capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Advise on the architecture, design, and implementation of Databricks solutions, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Lakeflow, Databricks SQL, Mosaic AI, and related platform capabilities.
Design and guide data migration, integration, streaming, and zero-copy data sharing strategies across cloud and enterprise environments.
Establish security, governance, compliance, performance optimization, and cost management best practices for Databricks platforms.
Mentor data engineers, analysts, and AI/ML teams, participate in architecture reviews, and contribute to technical standards and documentation.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and cross-functional teams to evaluate emerging technologies and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience designing, implementing, and operating Databricks solutions using medallion architecture.
Hands‑on experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Spark Structured Streaming, Lakeflow (or Delta Live Tables), Databricks SQL, MLflow, and Mosaic AI Model Serving.
Strong experience designing cloud architectures, including networking, security, storage, and key management services (e.g., VPC/VNet, S3/ADLS, KMS).
Proven experience migrating enterprise data platforms from legacy or on‑premises environments to Databricks.
Experience with real‑time streaming, change data capture (CDC), data governance, encryption, access controls, and compliance requirements.
Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, Apache Spark, and Databricks notebooks.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work through problems quickly and effectively and define a clear path to resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
Active Databricks certifications.
Experience with Generative AI, AI agents, and advanced AI/ML solutions within the Databricks ecosystem.
Experience with Delta Sharing, Databricks Clean Rooms, and governed data exchange architectures.
Familiarity with Oracle E‑Business Suite (EBS), SAP enterprise data, SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), or SAP Data Sphere integrations.
Experience with Databricks Apps, Lakeflow Designer, Genie, Databricks One, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform.
Experience designing business intelligence reporting layers, data quality frameworks, and enterprise data governance solutions.
Experience supporting highly regulated industries such as utilities, healthcare, government, or other compliance‑driven environments.
