Bulk Sales Manager – Waterford, CT (Regional Office) – Management – Northeast Region About the Role
Airgas is looking for a results‑driven Bulk Sales Manager to manage bulk sales, lead a team of Bulk Sales Specialists, and drive profitable growth of the bulk product line. Responsibilities
Drive safety within the sales organization, ensuring bulk specialists conduct themselves safely and comply with company policies at Airgas sites and customer sites. Participate in the development of the regional growth strategy, identifying key target markets, products, and applications, and exploring innovation opportunities. Develop and implement launch plans for new targets, including training of the sales team and adherence to pricing guidelines. Serve as the primary contact with strategic accounts for new and renewal opportunities. Establish sales targets per specialist and work with each specialist to develop and execute growth plans within assigned territories. Manage the productivity and activity of the sales team through regular communication, ride‑alongs, and tracking of key metrics such as pre‑call plans, opportunity pipeline, territory growth plans, and campaign results. Provide consistent feedback to specialists and coach them on track selling and value‑based selling philosophies. Implement lessons‑learned reviews for lost or failed business and adjust strategies accordingly. Act as a chief sales strategist for key accounts, actively participating in sales efforts to win or retain accounts. Collaborate with Area Vice Presidents and District Managers to ensure quality service for customers served directly from their branches. Analyze competitor offerings, market opportunities, pricing, and trends to identify potential bulk business opportunities and threats. Support onboarding and orientation for new employees, balancing sales priorities with training needs and assigning mentors as appropriate. Complete other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years of increasing responsibility in B2B sales or sales operations, with prior experience managing a team in the gases industry or comparable field. Proven track record of achieving profitable sales growth and a willingness to travel regionally (up to 50% of work time). Overnight travel may be required. Strong leadership skills and a reputation for developing and managing a team of experienced sales professionals. Ability to analyze business opportunities, develop successful sales strategies, and increase customer wallet share. Knowledge of business and accounting concepts, including ROI, P&L statements, balance sheets, interest and leasing calculations, and margin responsibilities. Strong interpersonal skills, influence, cross‑functional alignment, and excellent communication skills in developing action plans and ensuring accountability. Ability to deliver oral and written presentations and proposals to all levels of management. Must possess reliable, appropriate transportation and the capability to visit various Airgas and customer sites. Preferred: Four‑year college degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Sales Management, Engineering, or related field; equivalent education and experience acceptable. Preferred: Working knowledge of SAP. Benefits
