The Mobile Trailer Technician II is expected to master all applications of preventive maintenance and perform basic and advanced adjustments, repairs, and component replacements with limited supervision on Class 7 and 8 trailers. Additionally, perform basic diagnostic operations to diagnose trailer system failures and suggest accurate system repairs. The technician will work in the shop between service calls and may be asked to participate in the after‑hour on‑call rotation if needed. Responsibilities
Examine trailers to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s). Diagnose, repair, build and rebuild all parts of trailer equipment. Provide customers with preventive maintenance solutions whenever appropriate. Maintain 80% productivity. Prevent comebacks. Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of trailers and equipment. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as lubrications and component replacements. Repair, re‑line, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories). Test components using proper equipment to ensure proper operations. Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems. Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding. File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools. Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck. Practice safe driving. Other duties assigned. Education & Training
High school diploma or GED. Vocational and/or welding certificate/degree is a plus but not required. Knowledge & Experience
3+ years of experience repairing Class 7 & 8 trailers. Carpentry fabrication and welding. Skills & Abilities
Valid driver’s license with good driving record required. Class A CDL is preferred but not required. Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox. Maintain a perfect safety record. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Working Conditions
Exposure to inside/outside conditions, extreme temperatures (average of 100°F), humid conditions, chemical hazards, vibration, equipment noise. Work in enclosed and confined spaces. EEO Statement
