Job Summary Responsible for developing and driving sales strategies related to aggregate and asphalt product sales for commercial, industrial, and residential construction applications; builds and maintains customer relationships in the interest of supporting increasing the Company's market share of the production industry in local markets.
Main Responsibilities
Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
Engage with contractors, government agencies, engineering firms, and municipalities, to develop sales to new and existing accounts in assigned territory
Work closely with site operations to ensure customer needs are being met while new business opportunities are aggressively pursued
Establish and maintain relationships with customers, and enhances the reputation of Simon as a supplier of choice for aggregate products
Develop sales strategies through collaboration with all functional business units within the company to achieve strategic, tactical, and project goals
Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, operational and related research to support strategic business planning within the company and operating units
Consult with clients, vendors, and internal estimating/project management staff to formulate estimates and resolve issues; provide quotes and monitor bid acquisition processes for internal and external sales
Establish points of contact for assigned projects between company and client
Read and interpret plans and proposals, specifications, and other documentation to prepare bid quotes as required
Track and analyze business unit and market trends and make appropriate recommendations
Regularly visit project sites and gather information to provide quotes to customers
Forecast and plan for short and long term sales volumes; make recommendations to internal production teams regarding production targets, budgeting, planning, and strategy
Partner with operations and production staff to schedule customer deliveries; Identify and resolve client concerns at the point of material delivery
Partner with Quality Control departments to ensure product meets customer specifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required
Valid Driver's License and clean driving history required
Skills
5+ years of experience in sales account management or a related field required
Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and grow customer relationships within a defined sales territory
Experience in the construction materials, aggregates, asphalt, mining, manufacturing, or related industries strongly preferred
Working knowledge of construction estimating, bidding processes, and project-based sales preferred
Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and production planning, with the ability to translate sales demand into operational recommendations
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, including market trend analysis and opportunity identification
Effective communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, production, quality, and leadership teams
Proficient in managing multiple projects, priorities, and customer expectations in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
Wears and maintains required PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as required
Regularly required to perform tasks that require visual acuity to review information, inspect materials or equipment, and ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance in work performed
Regularly sits for long periods at a desk using a computer to perform administrative, planning, and reporting responsibilities
Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects, write, and use a keyboard and/or mobile device to complete daily administrative and communication tasks
Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with or without assistance to handle materials, tools, equipment, or documents essential to the role
Occasionally works in environments that may include loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor conditions depending on operational needs
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime; overnight travel may be required
Compensation & Benefits Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000 (Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual's qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.)
