The Role A Staff AI Frontend Engineer sitting at the intersection of product design and frontend engineering — an engineer first, with exceptional design sensibility that elevates everything you build. You'll define and implement the look and feel of AI-native enterprise workflows, making complex tools feel as intuitive as the best consumer apps.
What you'll be doing
Architect scalable frontend systems: reusable component libraries, state-management and API-integration patterns, bundle optimization, performance at scale
Own and ship the primary user-facing features end-to-end, from React components through API integration to production polish
Bridge AI capabilities with elegant UX; partner with product and backend to expose power while hiding complexity
Build complex frontend systems including real-time WebRTC streaming, generative dashboards, and agentic chat that operates the product itself
Use AI tools to rapidly prototype design concepts in code — working demos instead of static mocks
Help define how the team scales code review and SDLC with agents
Tech stack:
React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind; WebRTC; Python backend (occasional cross-stack)
Requirements
6+ years frontend, Senior to Staff level
React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind mastery
Ships multiple features per day with AI tooling
High agency, ex-founder or comparable
Engineer first, designer by instinct
SF in‑person, 5 days a week
Clear ownership signal — not pure big‑co tenure (e.g. Google → LinkedIn → Netflix) without it
Green Flags
Prior founder, founding engineer, or major scope ownership at a real startup.
Articulates what changed in their stack in the last three months. Mentions Open Claw, Hermes, Claude Dispatch, or comparable unprompted.
Has shipped real‑time complex frontend systems, WebRTC streaming, generative UI, or comparable.
