Job Description
Sales rep selling SaaS software must be comfortable with both using and discussing technology
has to understand not just their product’s technical specs, but also how it fits in with and complements other technology in a business’ software stack
SaaS reps must sell to a highly technical market, and have to pay attention to not just their industry, but general technology trends and developments
SaaS reps must be technologically fluent, able to easily understand new technology and learn to use it quickly.
Must understand the value of the product and prove true ROI of a SaaS product, and convince prospects that they’re losing out on a huge opportunity if they don’t buy
Should know how to position and pitch a product to achieve maximum impact.
SaaS sales reps must know how to look for specific characteristics when talking to a new sales prospect — including size, industry, and technology stack.
SaaS reps should always think about the long-term success of a new customer.
SaaS sales reps should really understand the world of Venture Capital, and what it means for a company to be funded, have an IPO, or be acquired by another business. These may seem outside the realm of traditional sales skills, but SaaS prospects will often ask reps about their company’s funding, and reps must be able to answer intelligently.
SaaS reps must have a great written and spoken communication skills, and understand the challenges of inside sales thoroughly
Qualifications
1-2 years of sales experience in a similar capacity (sales, demand generation, inside sales)in a SaaS or tech environment
Successful experience in developing and qualifying inbound and outbound leads preferable for a software and services company
Proven ability to develop relationships and generate leads by proactively and systematically reaching out to targeted prospects.
Experience as part of a larger demand generation team with insight and perspective on how to evolve and mature the lead generation capabilities.
Knowledge of the events industry (venue, registration or exhibition industry experience and network) in addition to the functional experience is a plus.
Marketing or business degree preferred
Highly motivated and competitive in achieving results in a team environment
Outgoing, gregarious, self-starter who enjoys researching prospects, establishing campaigns and executing on those campaigns to generate interest and create leads and opportunities.
