Kentro is hiring for an experienced Sr. Application & Packaging Integration Engineer to support our VA-ESOM End Point Support and Operations Monitoring contract across the United States. The VA is responsible for providing comprehensive onsite and remote support to IT customers across all VA Administrations and special program offices, including direct support of over 340,000 VA employees and thousands of contractors who use government furnished IT equipment and infrastructure.
Location: This position can be performed remotely supported Eastern Time hours or work onsite at 55 Elk Street, 3rd Floor, Albany, NY 12210
Core Hours: Ranges between 7:30am - 5pm EST Monday to Friday
Salary Range: $117k-133k. Factors influencing pay within this range include geography, market demand, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This Kentro position provides on-site support for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The VHA has facility‑specific vaccination and testing requirements (outlined below). If chosen for this role, candidates may be required to show proof that the below vaccinations and testing are current. Vaccine requirements may include COVID‑19, Influenza, Measles Mumps & Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, and/or Varicella. Testing requirements may include Tuberculosis.
Responsibilities
Maintain responsibility for coordinating deployments, support, software upgrades, and integrations of new products into a customer environment.
Perform hands‑on engineering work as well as provide coordination and leadership of engineering resources from other engineering.
Become familiarised with the customer’s technical environment and act as a point of contact between the agency and technical resources internal to the program.
Maintain access to customer sites and learn new solutions as they enter the customer.
Apply thought leadership in a highly collaborative and innovative work environment to solve complex technical and non‑technical challenges. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, or technical equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience or a total of 13 years of experience in lieu of education.
5+ years of experience with performing systems administration in Microsoft Windows environments, including performing installation and configuration of application packages, monitoring system performance and availability, performing upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Experience troubleshooting Windows operating systems (OS), specifically Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Experience in documentation of application installation and OS configuration items.
Experience with a variety of software packaging programs, tools, and languages.
Experience developing and testing GPOs, Baseline Desktop OS Images and application packages.
Experience building baselines leveraging Microsoft OSD task sequences, documenting the design and implementation of package builds, and baseline images.
Experience analyzing and detecting problems with an application deployed against an existing baseline image and provide rapid response to mitigate critical issues and provide recommendations to prevent issues in the future with little to no supervision.
Experience with assessing and testing hardware, baseline and application packages, bug fixes, as well as preparing baselines for field testing in a remote or in‑person capacity.
Experience field testing application packages, working with requests to resolve any issues discovered during testing, implementation, and deployment.
Extensive IT experience in the analysis, design, and integration of information systems and commercial‑off‑the‑shelf (COTS) and development software. Must be well versed in understanding structured analysis and design methodologies for the translation of systems requirements from business needs with a proven track record. Must be able to evaluate cost factors and risk.
Preferred Qualifications
Experienced with the Veterans Affairs.
Networking.
SCCM.
Knowledge of HCL BigFix fixlets.
UEFI BIOS.
PXE Boot toolset.
Imaging process.
Imaging hardware set‑up (power, racks, cabling, and server/network connections).
Imaging packages for custom software load optimization.
Clearance Requirement
US Citizen or Green Card holder.
Willing and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance.
