Vision System Engineer // TL // Lansing, MI
General Description: This position is part of a diverse group of engineers and scientists working to develop EV battery system techniques using Vision, inspection, and data acquisition equipment. We are seeking a candidate to support the hardware, software, and network infrastructure required for these development operations. The Vision Systems Engineer will support prevention of quality issues in advance and maximize output (yield, OEE) by establishing an inspection system, managing inspection equipment maintenance, improving inspection equipment performance, and introducing new equipment. Responsibilities
Perform a stand‑alone vision controller using various inspection logic Perform PC‑based inspection programs developed by the vendor that use various inspection logic Responsible for incident follow‑up, root cause analysis, and documentation Commission vision cameras for 2D/3D part inspection, and process control Train and equip the Quality Team to support vision systems after deployment into production Establish vision systems test plans Document control system and equipment configuration changes Apply inspection method to troubleshoot various statuses (I/O boards, encoder, light controller, modules, and devices) Develop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organization Provide enriched feedback to enhance individual performance Complete all safety training as assigned by the Company Ensure compliance with all EHS safety programs, policies, and procedures Work schedule can be changed – Daytime or Nighttime Communicate technical issues arising from work with clients (all) Proceed and manage the approval process for weekend/holiday overtime schedules (all) Communication and meeting support (weekday nights, weekends) Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred: Chemical, Industrial, Information System, Information Science, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related) Industrial Maintenance Journeyman’s certificate or equivalent (preferred) Understanding of Production and Processing equipment 1‑5+ Years Industrial Maintenance Experience (preferred) Direct, coordinate, lead, and mentor the activities of team members Experience with the management, maintenance, support, upgrade, and administration of a Microsoft Windows environment Prepares and manages periodic preventive maintenance schedule Technician is responsible for keeping the records of all preventive maintenance and troubleshooting works Coordinate with outside sources to schedule maintenance for more complex issues Ensure work is completed in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment following all safety requirements Prepares and maintains maintenance related documents; daily report and check sheet Other equipment maintenance and repair tasks as assigned Competencies: analytical thinker, problem solver, decision maker; excellent time management and resource management; organized planner, attention to detail; results oriented, takes initiative; development of others, teamwork; innovative, creative; build relationships, client focused; self‑motivated, responsible; positive mindset; great interpersonal skills Benefits
