SSD Hardware Validation & Characterization Engineer
We build enterprise SSD hardware that powers critical data center workloads, and we take pride in delivering high‑quality AI‑Enabled products to customers. Our team plays a key role in ensuring every drive performs as expected before it ships. We work hands‑on with cutting‑edge hardware and use deep technical insight to uncover issues early and improve designs. If you enjoy solving complex problems and working across the full hardware stack, you’ll find meaningful impact here! Responsibilities
Validate SSD hardware from bring‑up through full electrical and protocol characterization Characterize power, performance, NAND, DRAM, PCIe, and chip‑to‑chip interfaces Identify hardware and component issues, drive root cause, and partner with design teams to implement fixes Build and maintain Linux‑based validation environments and debug system‑level failures Develop Python automation and data analysis tools to scale validation and improve repeatability Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field Proficiency in Linux administration, scripting, and debug of test systems Hands‑on experience with lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, analyzers, and power supplies Experience validating or bringing up complex digital hardware systems Python scripting for automation and data analysis Preferred Qualifications
Experience with enterprise or data center SSDs Validation experience across power, performance, NAND, DRAM, or PCIe PCIe Gen4 or Gen5 validation and calibration experience Experience debugging chip‑to‑chip protocols such as I2C, I3C, SMBus, or UART Familiarity with CI frameworks and version control tools such as Jenkins and Git What We’re Looking For
Engineers who excel in this role are self‑directed, arriving at debug sessions with hypotheses and next steps rather than waiting for direction. They trace problems to root‑cause, build automation, write runbooks, and raise reporting standards proactively. They thrive on ambiguous, multi‑layer failures that others avoid, reproduce issues others cannot, document work to aid future teammates, manage multiple programs, and keep momentum when paths are blocked. Equal Opportunity Employer
Micron is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, citizenship status, disability, protected veteran status, gender identity or any other factor protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
