Job Purpose The Electronics Hardware Engineer develops mixed-signal design solutions including analog, RF and digital portions for Electronic Warfare, Radar, Avionics, Instrumentation, Automation, Communication and other complex systems. Specific activities of the Electronics Hardware Engineer include RF and analog development using system, circuit or board design and simulation tools; development of digital systems (including high-speed digital buses and FPGAs) via circuit simulation, schematic capture, board layout and assembly design; test and debug of the resulting hardware utilizing test equipment such as network analyzers and spectrum analyzers; and integration with other system components. Additionally, the Electronics Hardware Engineer conducts analysis of system performance, develops test process and procedure designs and collaborates with other engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Develop requirements for RF, analog or digital systems
Perform complex RF, analog or digital circuit design
Perform circuit simulation, schematic capture, and board layout for submodules of a platform design
Generate documentation of hardware design and theory of operation
Conduct and supervise lab testing activities
Integrate modules with other system components
Provide significant contributions to technical reports and presentations
Lead small teams performing RF, analog or digital circuit design
Provide significant contributions to white papers, and competitive proposals
Other related duties, as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications
Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) layout
Knowledge of best practices for embedded systems design
Knowledge of analog and digital circuit analysis and synthesis
Knowledge of object-oriented software design, implementation, testing and troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications
Active Secret Clearance
Experience with Altium Designer for PCB design
Experience with lab test equipment such as logic analyzers, multimeters, and oscilloscopes
Experience with Analog-to-Digital (ADC) and Digital-to-Analog (DAC) Converters
Experience with complex mixed domain circuit board design (RF, Digital, Analog)
Experience with DDR4 memory, multi‑gigabit speeds, 5GHz and higher radio frequencies
Travel Requirements Education and Length of Experience This position vacancy is an open-rank announcement. 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, Physics, STEM related field of study
3 years of related experience with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, Physics, STEM related field of study
0 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, Physics, STEM related field of study
U.S. Citizenship Requirements Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
Clearance Type Required Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
