Data Engineer CHAMP is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our data management team. As a Data Engineer, you will be someone that combines elements of data analysis, data engineering, and data science using cloud-native technologies to support the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various transactional sources into our Operational Data Store (ODS), Data Warehouse, and Data Marts. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in SQL and Python for data manipulation, reporting, and visualization, along with a keen understanding of data architecture and database design.

What You’ll Do
SQL Query Development:
Craft SQL queries for data reports based on specifications from both internal and external business stakeholders. Ensure queries are optimized for performance and accuracy, including standardization of queries. Create data visualizations and dashboards within a business intelligence tool based on these queries
Data Report Generation:
Use Python to develop scripts for automating the creation of data reports. This includes generating insightful graphs and charts to support decision‑making processes
ETL Process Management:
Design and implement ETL processes that populate an ODS from transactional data stores, ensuring data integrity and consistency. Further, transform data from the ODS to a Data Warehouse, including normalization and standardization of data across disparate source systems. Leverage cloud services and custom scripts to create performant, resilient, and reliable ETL processes
Data Warehouse Support:
Participate in the creation and maintenance of a Data Warehouse and Data Marts. This includes writing SQL and Python code for data extraction, transformation, and loading tasks.
Data Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of data definitions, ETL processes, and data architecture to support data warehouse and data mart development. Ensure documentation is clear and accessible to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Agile Team Leadership:
Lead within the team to establish and continually improve team processes and procedures that ensure customer and company needs are satisfied effectively and efficiently.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with business and technical resources across the organization to ensure data needs are met and to foster a data‑driven culture. Communicate complex data concepts and processes effectively to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
Requirements Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in a role involving SQL query writing, Python scripting for data processing, and ETL development.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems
Strong Python programming skills, especially for data manipulation and visualization (e.g., Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn.)
Experience with ETL tools and methodologies.
Understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with data modeling.
Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.

Salary Range The expected salary range for this position is $85,000 - $125,000 annually. This is a good faith estimate, and final compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
