SCOPE The Electrical Engineer, QA & QC will support the execution of quality assurance and quality control activities across Data Center & Energy Management related products under Mitsubishi Heavy Industries product lines in North America. This role is responsible for ensuring electrical systems and components meet design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements across the full lifecycle, including design validation, supplier manufacturing, installation, and commissioning. The Engineer will work closely with electrical engineering teams, suppliers, and field personnel to implement QA/QC processes, verify system performance, conduct inspections and testing, and support issue resolution. This role also ensures full compliance with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. QA/QC processes and procedures, as well as applicable North American codes and standards. This position collaborates with global stakeholders across Japan and the U.S. to align priorities, enable effective execution, and support MHIA’s long-term business objectives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Quality assurance & quality control execution
Execute QA/QC activities across electrical systems, including inspection, testing, and validation during design, manufacturing, and field installation phases.
Verify compliance with electrical design specifications, schematics, load requirements, and system integration requirements.
Support development and implementation of inspection and test plans (ITP), test procedures, and commissioning checklists.
Electrical design review & validation
Participate in electrical design reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards, codes, and system requirements.
Review single-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection coordination.
Validate system-level performance, including power distribution, control systems, grounding, and protection systems.
Identify potential quality risks in design and recommend mitigation measures.
Supplier & manufacturing quality
Support supplier quality activities, including inspection and verification of electrical components and assemblies (switchgear, control panels, generators, inverters, etc.).
Monitor manufacturing processes at suppliers and contract manufacturers, including module packagers in North America.
Verify factory acceptance testing (FAT) processes and results.
Coordinate closely with Japan-based teams to ensure alignment with MHI global QA/QC standards.
Field quality & commissioning support
Support QA/QC activities during installation, commissioning, and site acceptance testing (SAT).
Conduct site inspections to verify the quality of electrical installations, wiring integrity, grounding, and system configuration.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of electrical issues during commissioning and early operation phases.
Non-conformance & root cause analysis
Support identification and documentation of non-conformance issues (NCRs) related to electrical systems.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
Follow up on corrective actions and verify effective resolution.
Compliance & standards
Ensure QA/QC activities comply with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. QA/QC processes, procedures, and quality standards.
Support compliance with North American electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, NFPA, IEEE, NRTL certifications).
Maintain documentation for inspections, testing, and certification support.
Cross-functional collaboration
Work closely with electrical engineering, system integration, program management, procurement, and field teams.
Communicate quality findings, risks, and corrective actions clearly to stakeholders.
Support continuous improvement efforts across electrical systems and supplier performance.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education Requirement:
B.A. or B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience:
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering, QA/QC, supplier or manufacturing quality, or related technical environments within industrial, energy, or data center-related industries
Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, industrial control systems, and system-level quality requirements
Experience reviewing and validating electrical drawings and technical documentation, including single-line diagrams, control schematics, and wiring diagrams
Experience supporting or executing electrical testing, commissioning, factory acceptance testing (FAT), or site acceptance testing (SAT)
Demonstrated experience applying QA/QC principles, inspection and test processes, and quality management system requirements in engineering, manufacturing, installation, or commissioning environments
Familiarity with North American codes and standards (NEC, UL, NFPA, IEEE, NRTL)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with engineering, suppliers, manufacturing partners, and field teams
Proficiency with MS Office and engineering tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in data center infrastructure, power generation systems, or mission-critical power systems
Experience with switchgear, UPS systems, generators, DC power systems, or microgrid/distributed energy solutions
Experience with FAT/SAT, commissioning, and site electrical QA
Knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, 8D, CAPA, etc.)
Experience working in global teams, especially Japan–U.S. collaboration
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS
Travel: 20-40% (supplier sites, manufacturing facilities, commissioning sites)
Standard Monday through Friday work week. Weekend/late-night work if applicable.
Regularly required to visit industrial, construction, and commissioning environments
