Network Engineer 2 – Kauai, HI Amentum is seeking a Network Engineer 2 for a position on Kauai, HI. This role provides support, security, administration, and management to all classified and unclassified PMRF mission‑specific networks. The engineer will configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices in accordance with DoD/DoN/PMRF policy. Responsibilities include network‑centric cybersecurity subject matter expertise, system‑wide troubleshooting and problem resolution both in "stand‑down" and "live" mission environments, and ensuring STIG compliance as well as PMRF policy.
Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, and configure all network engineering hardware and software for classified and unclassified network infrastructures, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other infrastructure.
Provide leadership and mentorship to other engineers and IT support staff.
Accomplish cybersecurity tasks using DISA STIGs, SCAP, SRR scripts, and/or ACAS/Nessus.
Utilize enterprise‑level network tools such as Cisco ISE, Cisco Catalyst Center, LogRhythm, Netreo, and NetBrain.
Maintain 100% network device compliance with DoD‑directed IAVM programs and assist in developing POA&M for non‑compliant devices.
Ensure all networks strictly align with DoD "Comply to Connect" (C2C) policies.
Collaborate with network and security teams to design and enforce Zero Trust security.
Configure and maintain network management platforms, monitor data, and review audits/logs for troubleshooting.
Prepare and submit status reports, technical reports, and procedures to management and customers.
Track and report on day‑to‑day and project‑level activities.
Participate in the Organization’s Configuration Management Plan for all hardware and software relevant to customer networks, including preparation for system change requests.
Interface and coordinate with management, team members, and the customer to assure awareness of network development, security posture, compliance, and overall system status.
Document work and maintain network engineering documentation (MS Visio) related to inventory, topology, design, test plans, projects, and implementation planning.
Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
Years of directly related work experience may be substituted for a degree.
Advanced certifications (DoD 8570/8140: IAM I, II, or III) may be substituted for a degree.
Knowledge of IT networks and advanced IT networking concepts including MPLS.
Proficiency in operating personal computers, computer software, and standard office equipment.
Basic keyboarding skills and aptitude for neatness and accuracy in sorting.
Critical thinking – proven problem solver.
Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to organize.
DoD 8570/8140: IAT II.
Education
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of network/engineering experience
OR
HS Diploma/GED and 7 years of network/engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
Palo Alto certifications
Experience with DoD systems and infrastructure including Taclanes
Current DoD Top Secret Clearance
Security Clearance Applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible to apply for a Top Secret Security Clearance. Selected candidates must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance before employment. Clearance must be maintained for access to classified information or closed/restricted areas throughout employment.

Compensation Details Compensation: $140K – $150K
