Job Overview The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking a Junior Engineer to join our Design Unit in various sections.
Successful candidate will be provided with hands‑on training and will contribute to a range of engineering tasks, from moderate to complex. Responsibilities include conducting research studies, engineering investigations, and assessments related to various engineering functions. Additionally, the candidate will carry out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under the supervision of an Engineer‑In‑Charge. The scope of work and training encompasses one or more of the following specialized areas: design, drafting, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification writing, structural calculations, conducting field surveys, and participating in design‑related site inspections.
Minimum Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.
Must be authorized to work full‑time in the United States.
Education credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education‑recognized accredited institution.
Preferred Skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (e.g., roadway, sewer, and/or water main).
Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred).
Valid driver's license (required).
Personal vehicle (optional).
