Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). We are seeking a System Development Engineer to architect and deliver software solutions that enable testing, validation, and optimization of next‑generation hardware systems for the Customer Terminals. This role sits at the critical intersection of hardware integration, embedded systems development, and production‑scale software engineering—directly contributing to technology that will reach millions of customers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, design, implement, and validate software solutions for onboard power management systems.
Design and develop close‑loop control algorithms that leverage sensor peripherals, microcontrollers, and custom silicon.
Enable data‑driven performance insights through automated test execution, collection, and analysis pipelines.
Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure that every Leo device shipped meets requirements.
Define and execute software release processes, CI/CD, and quality verification.
Work hands‑on with hardware test equipment.
Deliver clear documentation and user‑focused software for engineering and manufacturing teams.
Basic Qualifications
Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure.
Experience with Linux/Unix.
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, C++, or C#.
Experience working with microcontrollers or embedded systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
Experience in hardware lab equipment such as digital scopes, logic analyzers, and soldering tools.
Export Control Requirement Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Salary and Benefits The base salary range for this position is $99,100.00 - $160,000.00 annually, plus sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
