JOB SUMMARY Light/Medium Duty Automotive Technician will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, light and follow‑up repairs, diagnostics, and licensed DOT inspections at customer locations. The role includes continual learning of advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques while maintaining high performance metrics.
Work on various light/medium duty vehicles such as F150, F250, and F350, including specialty equipment.
Travel required 100% of the time to service multiple customers across the state.
Follow a rotating schedule of Monday‑Friday first week and Monday‑Saturday second week, with home every day.
Flat‑rate compensation with abundant work available.
DUTIES
Always follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.
Travel to and perform work at customer locations; most work is performed outside.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light and medium vehicles in the field.
Carry out routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, lifts, and jacks.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on vehicle systems (electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, gas engines, manual and automatic transmissions, etc.).
Diagnose, adjust, and repair vehicle systems including electronic and mechanical components.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using scanners and pressure gauges.
Identify problems, determine relevance of information, and generate/evaluate alternatives.
Independently determine required parts, order and pick up parts for installation.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations.
Document work according to company standards, uploading photos and parts information to Repair Orders using the company-provided phone and on paper.
Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, assisting in cleanup at the end of each day.
Apply knowledge acquired through formal training or on‑the‑job experience to perform duties and evaluate technical information.
Work with support team to assess customer needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems or meet expectations.
Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work-related activities and time allocations effectively.
Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty, keep commitments, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical and professional standards.
Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to most standard repair times.
Communicate with support team to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss Repair Order findings.
Participate in all company-required safety training.
Maintain assigned service vehicle, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post‑trip inspections.
Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Safe driver with a valid driver's license.
Possess a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
Minimum of one year of experience as an Automotive Technician on light/medium vehicle repair or equivalent education/certification/skills.
Two years of equivalent experience in a similar Technician role.
Complete all company-required training.
