Senior System Administrator (MSO)
Livermore, CA, US – Full time on site position. Mission critical role supporting defense operations by providing 24/7, 365 operational support to end customers and users worldwide. Responsibilities
Provide Tier 1/2 operational support on a rotating 12 hour shift pattern (Panama Shift – 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 3 days off). Monitor performance, capacity, and health of end-to-end IT computer systems using specialized software applications such as SolarWinds, Splunk, WireShark, ping, SNMP traps, and customer scripts. Triage hardware, software, and environmental faults, alerts, or malfunctions and determine root cause. Serve as first responder and “one‑stop shop” for all site issues requiring broad knowledge of high‑priority systems across a multi‑location enterprise. Provide situational awareness and resolution to user community and respond to real‑time mission‑critical situations within minutes. Interface with user community, Mission Directors, System Administrators, Network Engineers, external sites, and other operators for real‑time detection, isolation, and resolution of problems. Perform analysis in real‑time and post‑event on key mission capabilities and provide feedback to internal and external customers. Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly functional checks and inspections on systems, critical hardware, and infrastructure. Support Engineering staff for testing and validation of new software releases and network connections. Support configuration management functions using BMC Remedy, including incidents, assets, and documentation. Create, maintain, and update SOP/TTP documentation and participate in scheduled exercises. Shift Schedule
Panama Shift – rotating shift pattern using multiple teams and two 2‑hour shifts to provide 24/7 coverage. Each team works the same shift (day or night) for 2‑3 months before switching. Required Qualifications
8+ years of directly related experience in IT / Network administration and support. TS/SCI or DoE Q Clearance. Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, or WireShark. Working knowledge of critical physical infrastructure (HVAC, Power, UPS, etc.). DoD 8570 compliant certifications required. Desired Qualifications
Experience with Linux and Windows system administration. Networking background. CompTIA Security+ CE (or similar). Education / Certifications
