Essential Functions
Represent the hotel by soliciting, responding to, and negotiating with individuals or groups requiring food and beverage services on‑site and off‑site (UT Campus).
Engage in significant interactions with customers regarding catering sales and operational questions, concerns, and issues.
Negotiate contracts with customers and third‑party agencies.
Prepare proposals and/or contracts that advise prospective customers on food and beverage costs, banquet space and availability, and develop and quote custom menu prices.
Conduct outside sales activities to discover business opportunities and entertain customers in local and assigned markets.
Direct site visits for accounts and participate in tradeshows, industry and customer events.
Attend weekly catering departmental meetings and other scheduled meetings to support business operations (e.g., review sessions).
Conduct site inspections with potential customers, visiting meeting spaces and banquet facilities and any other property facilities.
Adhere daily to FLIK's Platinum Service process, including standards, customer service principles, and the “To Be” philosophy.
Supportive Functions May include various supportive duties as determined by management. Each function will be performed for a portion of the time as needed.
Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic property product knowledge (staffing, operations, safety, security, union rules, structure, terminology, codes, hotel policies, city ordinances).
Knowledge of property layout and interdepartmental interactions.
Understanding of meeting room set‑up styles.
Familiarity with audio‑visual, telecom, lighting, and temperature control systems.
Extensive knowledge of banquet menus and the meeting industry.
Ability to deal effectively with internal and external customers, including resolving conflicts and handling difficult situations.
Quantitative and analytical skills for accurate financial forecasting and space utilization calculations.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Delphi (or in‑house sales system), Market Vision, Internet, and intranet.
Strong English reading, writing, and speaking skills to comprehend guest requests and written materials.
Conceptual understanding of electronic devices and ability to operate them.
Ability to complete contracts in compliance with all checklists, standards, and policies.
Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma required. A college degree (2‑year or 4‑year) is highly preferred.
Experience:
Prior knowledge of hotel operations or previous hotel experience in sales or front desk is highly preferred.
Grooming:
All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance (specific standards available).
Other:
Additional language ability preferred.
