Job Description
Senior Components Engineer – Mission Systems Hardware Engineering Department, Collins Aerospace (Raytheon). Location: Largo, FL or Marlborough, MA. Position Type: Onsite. Key Responsibilities
Work as a team member focusing on the mechanical and electrical design of circuit cards and housings for protected communications systems. Ensure parts control and standardization plans are implemented and executed. Review datasheets and compare technical characteristics of commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) components, recommend potential alternate part replacements. Generate procurement documentation and submit required program reports. Provide parts obsolescence support: investigate obsolescence issues, participate in trade studies, determine mitigation approaches, maintain action logs. Lead the technical obsolescence mitigation process for the program and may supervise certain team members. Use CAD tools to develop detailed mechanical/electrical design layouts and documentation. Handle financial reporting responsibilities, including earned‑value inputs, workload planning, and support for proposals. Travel as needed for installation and design verification. Qualifications – Must Have
Background in components engineering with experience guiding component selection. Experience creating and peer‑reviewing procurement control drawings (e.g., Source Control Drawings or Vendor Item Control Drawings). Broad experience in mechanical and electrical hardware engineering. Experience with obsolescence reporting and tracking. Strong MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Typically requires a STEM degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience; an advanced degree is acceptable with at least 3 years of experience. Qualifications – Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar) with minimum 6 years of relevant experience. Understanding of Tin Whisker risk, Gold Embrittlement risk, and experience with mitigation plans for military applications. Knowledge of qualification requirements for military applications and hardness‑critical items. Experience preparing customer and management briefings. Experience managing cost and schedule for program and project tasks, including associated reporting. Experience developing technical and cost proposals. Benefits
