Overview The Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to work in the Structures & Hydraulics Section of the Project Delivery Bureau.
The Analyst will ensure that our project estimates for state infrastructure are accurate and reflect the current trends in our ever-changing economy. This high-visibility position will work with our subject matter experts in construction cost estimating, engineering estimates, and will also support staff within the Project Delivery Bureau and Highway Division by integrating hydrologic, environmental, and pavement condition datasets into decision-ready dashboards that directly inform statewide investment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
Data and statistical analysis
Power BI or similar data visualization tools
Excel
Programming in R and/or Python
Machine learning
This position requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as it will support meaningful impact on public projects with autonomy to shape analytics practices.

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Occasional travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, statistics, data science, geographic information systems, computer science, or closely related field.
OR Associates degree in engineering, statistics, data science, geographic information systems, computer science, or closely related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience including one (1) or more of the following areas: statistical analysis, policy analysis, data science, data analysis, geospatial analysis, quality management, project/program management, program, or policy development.
OR High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) or more years of work experience including one (1) or more of the following areas: performance management, statistical analysis, data science, data analysis, geospatial analysis, quality management, project/program management, program, or policy development.
