Amazon is building the backbone of generative AI and advanced machine‑learning workloads on its cloud platform. As a Systems Development Engineer in AWS Hardware Engineering, you will help design, develop and operate the next‑generation platform that delivers high‑performance, scalable AI/ML and HPC workloads. Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of complex system architecture for AWS hardware and software stack, from bare metal to user‑space. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (SDEs, SDETs, TPMs, Managers, Principal Engineers) to shape the hardware platform strategy. Proactively identify system deficiencies, write diagnostic tooling and automate remediation to prevent customer impact. Break down large technical challenges into clear deliverables and drive their completion through self and team effort. Ensure high quality, reliability, and testability of next‑generation servers for AWS: • Design and validate HPC and AI/ML servers for AWS Accelerators • Drive performance, reliability, and operational excellence • Support continuous innovation cycles and product launches • Maintain and improve diagnostic and monitoring capabilities • Iterate on best practices for hardware, software, and system integration. Key Qualifications
Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby). Experience with automation tools for building, testing, releasing or monitoring systems. Proficient with Python scripting for data pipelines or test harnesses. Background in high‑concurrency, high‑throughput, distributed systems. Deep knowledge of x86 architecture, hardware‑software interaction, and diagnostic operations. Excellent communication, planning and leadership skills. Equal Opportunity Employment

Cupertino, CA – $122,600.00 – $185,000.00 USD annually Seattle, WA – $99,100.00 – $160,000.00 USD annually Benefits Overview
