Responsibilities- Drive technical direction for the design and implementation of core perception and tracking systems to solve real-world problems
- Partner closely with other software engineering, ML, privacy, design, and product marketing teams
- Present the team's work to leadership, communicating roadmap status, technical direction, and advocating for resources
- Drive initiatives that extend beyond your immediate team from engineering best practices to hiring strategy and org development
- MS/PhD in Computer Science, Math, Robotics or related field
- Strong technical background in modern ML based perception systems (VLM, VLA, CNNs, etc.) as well as traditional perception and tracking methods (state estimation, filtering, sensor fusion, etc.)
- 5+ years of engineering management experience with a proven track record
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong software engineering background
- Ability to break down large features and implement practical solutions
- Curiosity about new technologies, flexibility, and openness to ambiguity
- Knowledge of robotics software stack and algorithms (i.e. kinematics, optimization, planning methods)
- Strong applied math background (e.g., graphics, vision, optimization, controls, or planning)
- Knowledge of audio processing chains (i.e. DSP, echo cancelation, direction of arrival estimation, etc.)
- Familiarity with Swift and Apple developer tools
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $228,100 and $393,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation.
